PRIVACY OF STUDENT RECORDS - FERPA
TOCC complies with The Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act (FERPA) of 1974. This act was designed to protect the
privacy of educational records, to establish the rights of students
to inspect and review their educational records, and to provide
guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data
through informal and formal hearings. Students have the right
to file complaints with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act Office concerning alleged failures by the institution to
comply with this Act. Contact the TOCC Student Services office

| TOCC designates categoriesof student information
as public or directory information. This information includes
the student's name, address, telephone number, date of birth,
major field of study, classification status (regular, special,
full-time, part-time), dates of attendance, degrees, honors,
awards received, and most recent previous educational institution
attended by the student. |

Although TOCC maintains a closed (unpublished)
student directory, such information may be disclosed by TOCC
for any purpose and at its discretion. Under the Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, currently enrolled students
may instruct TOCC not to disclose public or directory information
for any purpose. To withhold disclosure, students should inform
the Student Services office in writing, prior to the end of
the drop/add period. Such a request must be resubmitted each
semester.

| Tohono O'odham Community College will not release
any public or directory information unless written authorization
is given by any student who specifically requests release of
public or directory information. Questions concerning the privacy
of student records may be directed to the Admissions and Records
